51³Ô¹Ï Me

I have been an athletic trainer since 1995 with decades of experience in many settings.  I have been an AT at the high school (23 years), professional (10 seasons), and collegiate (5 years) levels. Two of the high schools where I was contracted for AT services were through the local sports medicine clinic, where I would also provide AT services to patients in an outpatient Physical Therapy setting.  I also have experience as a strength coach and weightlifting coach. Athletic training has been an incredible journey, allowing me to experience some great athletic events, but, more importantly, mentor and build relationships.

Why I’m At Mary

Mary offers an outstanding athletic training education program and I enjoy bringing my real world experiences into the classroom and to the students.

Feature Content

Strength training, personal health and wellness, and competition have been lifelong passions of mine. After being a college athlete, I aimlessly stayed fit and lifted weights without a goal. In the early 2000's I learned about the sport of weightlifting and began my journey to become a weightlifter. I have enjoyed competing in Olympic weightlifting in more than 50 meets over a 20+ year period. Since 2014, I have qualified to compete at the master's national championship level in my age group and weight class, which has allowed me to travel across the country for the national championships. It didn't take long to qualify for international-level meets, and I have competed in the Pan American Masters Weightlifting Championships in three different countries. I have also qualified for the IMWA World Masters Championships for over a decade and have competed once, earning the bronze medal in 2022. I will compete again in September 2025. The sport is a great community and has allowed me to make friends across the country as we compete against age and gravity.
