51³Ô¹Ï Me

Like many of you, I lead a busy life outside of my career. Family holds a special place in my heart; my husband and I cherish the time we spend with our three grown children (and first grandchild). We love to travel and stay active through hiking, riding ATVs, and water sports, and we find joy in relaxing at our cabin.

As an educator, I understand that my students also have families, busy lives, and unique challenges. My goal is to collaborate with you to help you achieve your academic aspirations without sacrificing the important moments in your life. Together, we can create a supportive environment that encourages success while honoring your commitments outside of school.

Why I’m At Mary

As a proud two-time graduate of the University of Mary, I am thrilled to be a member of the exceptional faculty who played a pivotal role in my educational journey. Being part of the University of Mary community allows me to share my passion for nursing, education, and service with our students, all within a faith-filled environment that fosters growth and support.

Expertise

With a nursing career that spans 25 years, I have had the privilege of working across various specialties. As a nurse educator, I bring over 10 years of experience teaching at the LPN/ADN level, along with 5 years of experience instructing graduate students. Additionally, I have been advising students for the past five years, guiding them on their academic journeys. My clinical background is rooted in labor and delivery, where I have developed a strong expertise that informs my teaching and mentorship.

Two guiding principles inspire my life and shape my presence in the classroom. The first is my deep commitment to the Benedictine value of respect for persons. We are all human, each with our unique gifts, differences, hesitations, and challenges. I believe that every student brings valuable perspectives to the classroom, enriching the learning experience for all.

The second principle is the importance of passion in effective teaching and learning. Educators must be deeply passionate about the subjects they teach. When you love what you do, you exude a contagious energy that resonates in the classroom. This enthusiasm not only captivates students but also fosters their engagement and enhances their learning outcomes.
